THE PARISH COUNCIL
The Parish Council is a body of about 20 lay persons, some elected by the whole parish at its Annual General Meeting and some appointed by the Parish Priest, dedicated to facilitating and supporting the work of the Parish Priest.
The Council meets every other month, normally on Monday evening. Meetings last about 3 hours and notes of the business of the meetings are available to all members of the parish.
The objectives of the Parish Council of Our Lady of Lourdes are:
- to consult, co-operate with and communicate between the Parish Priest and the Parish Community
- to advise the Parish Priest on any matters upon which he seeks advice, including parish surveys, needs and resources
- to undertake any work assigned by the Parish Priest
- to represent the parish on organisations approved by the Parish Priest
- to raise funds for charitable purposes which cannot be taken care of by parochial funds
- to foster the Christian life and witness of the whole parish, both inside and outside the community of the parish.
